The hydrogeomorphological and ecological benefits achieved after two years of implementing the ReNaturalize project were presented by APLYSIA at the International River Restoration Congress, held in September in the United Kingdom.
ReNaturalize, a Nature-Based Solution (NbS), was applied to restore a section of the Gualaxo do Norte River (MG) in partnership with Fundação Renova.
The project’s results align with trends observed in restored rivers worldwide, including an increased abundance of macroinvertebrates indicative of good environmental quality, as well as growth in biomass and the predominance of certain fish species.
In addition to the direct benefits of river restoration, the congress also explored the role of these solutions in flood mitigation, climate change impact reduction, and CO? retention—critical contributions in today’s environmental context.
